Lebanon is unraveling - but you can help

I’ve just returned from a mission to Lebanon. The situation is the most dire I’ve seen the country face.

The world has been understandably focused on Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. But countries like Lebanon are being engulfed in the fallout of that war. Before the war, over 80% of Lebanon’s grain was imported from Ukraine. Now what? Prices are skyrocketing, supply lines are drying up, and the world is descending into further displacement and chaos.

This is only the very beginning. The collateral effects of this war are hurting a country that was already in free fall. I am deeply distressed by what this means for Lebanon.

Last week, Empower Lebanon distributed food parcels to 350 needy families in Tripoli, one of the poorest cities in the country. Working with US Military Advisors in Lebanon as well as our trusted local partners, the Lebanese Food Bank, Fakker Bi Gheyrak, a Tripoli-based NGO, and The Muslim Scouts, we were able to provide each family with nearly 50 pounds of healthy food supplies, enough to put food on the table for two to three weeks.

I’m proud to see how our organization is helping people in their time of need, and I thank you for your support. This year alone, we’ve helped more than 1,600 families on the brink of poverty.

Over the last two years, I have made several trips to Lebanon to distribute humanitarian aid on many occasions. I have seen firsthand the struggles of marginalized families.

But this time was different. The effects of the chronic, unrelenting deterioration of the country are obvious. Something is changing, and not for the better.

If there has ever been a time to help Lebanon, now is it.

Our team is 100% dedicated to improving the lives of the Lebanese people. But we cannot accomplish our mission without you. Please donate today and help us Empower Lebanon.
